This year in review so far...

I must admit, this past year has been my absolute favorite scrapbook year since i started scrapbook in 2003. I think it has everything to do with the fact that i buy my own products and can create pages to my hearts content. My goal this year was 10 pages a month. I am a little behind (40 pages for the year so far) but i am working on a big project that will fill that goal quickly. It's just that project that inspired me to look back at this years pages and i thought to post it here too. I love looking back and seeing a few things:

1. I love using one picture on a page AND multiples... I think it's about 50% of each for me.
2. I frame every page
3. Speech bubbles is always a favorite...
4. Journaling is a must.
5. I love fresh colors
6. I use the same products over and over again. and i love it.
7. I am not afraid to use products... meaning i don't feel that the embellishments /papers are too special to use. I open the packages and use it. It  was not always this easy. I use to hoard products like there was no tomorrow.
8. I LOVE MY SILHOUETTE CAMEO. sigh. i simply cannot scrapbook with out it. I cannot even imagine my scrapbook life without it. the end.
9. White cardstock is my staple.
10. I don't mind scrapbooking the same picture again... my thinking here is that i have 3 girls and one day each of them can have a page with the same family picture.

because it's long weekend and our first Canada day as Canadians and because i love scrapbooking and because of so many other reasons, i am giving away a $25 2peas gift card. Tell me a few things that you have discovered about the way you scrapbook. and remember to leave your 2peas username. I will announce the winner on this coming Tuesday.

love and a kiss

stuff i just love:

I love my silhouette too. But probably the biggest change for me was taking Ali E's storyology class and focusing more on my stories.

I love your work Wilna! I am like you in the way that I don't hoard my stash anymore and use it. I love kraft card stock and I am known to scrapbook the same picture over and over for different people and albums. Happy Canada Day! My username on 2peas is scrapperleeanne and I have been on the gallery there since 2006. Love 2peas!

I love the way you combine light background (usually) and fresh or pastel colors. And if you have one photo there will be multiple details=)
I discovered that I could do something like art pages and it was really fun.

One of the things I've discovered about my scrapbooking is that my memory isn't so great. I love it when I scrapbook about a photo while it's still fresh in my mind...so many details I may have forgotten otherwise.

I love my Cameo also...so many ideas....so little time. :)

Have a wonderful first official holiday!!!

I love the color and lightness in your LOs! This year I've learned to start documenting the stories most important to me. I'm ncstamper at 2peas.

at 2peas, I'm ginger_blue

I've found that by thinking of scrapbooking as JOURNALING first, it's easier for me to dive in and get the memories down on paper. I don't know if that makes any sense!

Lately I am discovering that I love to use a big huge photo and just let it dominate the page. And controversly, I also love to use multi photos w/tons of embellies and lots of journaling. I just think scrapbooking is such a great combo of art and feeling. We record our stories and express so much in every page. Love it! (2Ps= gleestormont)

*sigh* I so love your style! How cool to see these pages all together. :)
I love to tell stories with my scrapbooking. And thanks to a recent rearrangement in my craft space, I have discovered how much faster and organized I can be if I have everything tidied up!
Happy Canada Day!

I totally love your LOs... I look at your layouts for inspiration how to embellish and for placement.

I've owned a Silhouette SD for a 2 years but only started using it this year when I attempted my first LO.

I'm still finding my style and getting comfortable with the process. I used to have a huge headache with choosing papers but I'm much better at that now. And I've learnt to use my Silhouette to plan my LO before actually getting on it with papers. I also discovered I seldom scrap with just 1-4 photos. It's always more than that.

Happy Canada Day!!

Your layouts are absolutely amazing & inspirational!

My scrapbooking is all over the place, I try all sorts of styles & I haven't found one that I have been so committed to sticking with. However, over the past year I have: experimented with various page sizes, used more paint/mist, and used more nontraditional scrapbooking products. [Due to the fact that I moved from the Phoenix area which is basically a goldmine of scrapbooking stores to Manhattan where they are practically nonexistent].

I used to scrap chronologically but now I scrap the photos that "grab me" at the moment and I'm enjoying it a lot more and getting more done. Plus I'm mixing new and old products and having fun. Love your layouts this year too and wish I had a cameo. 2 peas name: Miss Kathy

I love your scrapbook style! I don't feel I have my own style, I scrapbook in periods. As I also make cards I can make like 10 layouts and then a month until next time I find my scrapbook mojo again..I've found that this is just the way it has to be and trying not to let myself get stressed by it.

I could only survive with pretty papers and alphabets, those are my must have. i'm terrible at journaling and am mostly a one photo per layout kind of girl. and i love it.

I've learned that I just love mixing and matching patterned papers -- as much as I love clean backgrounds like yours, I just can't scrap that way too often -- there's so many pretty papers out there, and they're talkin' to me! :)

Happy Canada Day weekend!

I found that while I love cutting stuff up on my cameo, I basically never ever use them :S haha. I should change that!

Wilna, I love your pages, they're so inspiring. I recently figured out that (for me) starting every layout with a piece of white cardstock speeds the scrap process and yet still leaves plenty of room for play. Just one less decision. I've also figured out that a go to font for journaling (for me it's AvantGarde) is also a huge time saver. Plus, these two consistent elements give a cohesive feel to my pages no matter how different the content might be. I'm CarolineD on TwoPeas.

I've discovered that I can write my journaling by hand and like it! I've discovered that I can use mist and it looks pretty not messy! And I've discovered so many new (to me) designers that are wonderful- including you Wilna! Your pages are just amazing! Thanks for this giveaway! (I am scrappin-geek on 2peas)

Hi Wilna.

I am also a fan of your style and art! I love trying different techniques when I find time to scrapbook and like using a sketch to plan out my page. I also choose photo's I love and in no particular order. My 2peas name is Lara Ann

I have learned I like 2-3 pictures on my page and then I have space for embellishments and journalling. I try to include some very positive character trait that my children may be exhibiting at the time of picture or at the present which is reflected in the older picture. Exploring different styles seen on the web and finding some that I can rely on has also been very helpful. Thanks for becoming a Canadian, Wilna ( and family).

My style consists of a plain background with strips of colorful patterned paper under my photo(s). And droplets of watercolors. Love seeing the collection of some of your pages!

Your work is fabulous! Always! I have discovered that as long as I'm me, I can do LOTS of styles...I just have to stay true to me. That's what makes the difference. Jingle

I have come realize that I love using spray inks on all of my layouts and stitching. I love both of these embellishments.

I've learned that I don't have to make amazing, professional looking pages. I can make a layout that makes me happy and has meaning. That has taken some pressure off of me wanting everything to look like design teams (which I just can't achieve!). I've also learned that my children love looking at my pages and simply love them because of the photos and journaling. Thats what its all about :))) p.s. I do need to stop hoarding and use things more freely like you do!

Emily Mae said...

I've only been interested in scrapping for about 6 months and I've only actually scrapped one layout so far, but I can say that I've discovered that I absolutely love stamping and I want to collect every stamp set and stamp on everything! (My TwoPeas name is EmilyMae8.)

Cynthia Baldwin said...

I've learned that I love bright colors and small patterns. Although I love the look of misting and paint when I create, I prefer a clean page. At heart, I'm a simple scrapper, and the story + photo (most often more than one!) - is where it all starts for me. I have a Cameo but don't use it nearly enough...letter stickers or chipboard are just easier! I use a sketch for 90% of my pages now. I love washi tape but should really use up some of the ribbon I've "collected"...and that probably goes for a lot of my other supplies - love to shop for new stuff! :)
Thanks so much for the chance to win. I always admire your work!!

I realized that I love using white/kraft/black (in that order) and not PP as a background. I love layouts that have lots of layers, colors and embellies, but I do mostly white space. lol..

Laura Stewart said...

sadly I have not made a page in a very long time, I just keep making cards since they are so easy!

I love white space (but it does not literally need to be white). My favourite product is paper and I have yet to use an enitre package of embellies! Thanks for the chance. Username: Sarah Webb
