Merry Christmas!

It's Sunday night and I am taking a few days off from my little room to spend time with my family... So I thought to make Christmas fun for you: I am giving away these two books to 2 people. Just leave me a comment and tell me what's on your Christmas day menu (Ok, now you know I LOVE FOOD!) and I will pick 2 names for the 2 books.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO you and your family. This is my prayer for you:
Phil 1: 9For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [n comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things-- 10That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition]. 11[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy, 12Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God's holy people) in the Light.

Peace to you
Wilna and Josias.

we eat tons of appetizers Christmas eve and then the day of we have a great big meal with all the trimmings and then we have another big day of eating on boxing day, but this year we are going to florida on the 27th so it is going to be three days of food here and then eleven days of awesome food in florida. my favorite part is the appetizers because my mom and mother in law make a huge spread and they live across the street so that night we just go back and forth.

Then we go to my MIL's for dinner...turkey, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and for dessert pumpkin pie, pecan pie, stuffed dates, and assorted christmas cookies! Wow, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

On my Christmas day menu- lots of fudge, divinity, and lemon ice box pie (forget all the "real" food, I head to the desserts first. Hee hee!)

Christmas Eve, we usually go to a friend's home for ham and all the trimming. Since my husband can't eat a lot of pork, it's a treat for us.

And this year, I'm cooking a turkey with dressing, green beans, squash casserole, and a dessert. I don't usually do a big dinner, but this year, we felt like doing something special.

On Christmas day we enjoy a quiche and some bacon, coffee and eggnog (the two together are wonderful!)fruit and cinnamon buns for brunch. In past years we have made it a practice to invite people over who do not have family close by to spend the day with, to come over and share brunch with us. However, this year we have lots of extended family home for the holidays!! Both my husband's parents and my parents live close by and so we get our share of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing(my favorite!), carrots and salads and always dessert(usually pie or cherry cheesecake). Last year we broke tradition and had cottage cheese perogies, with cream gravy, and farmer sausage instead.

Best wishes for a joyous Christmas, Wilna!

Our menu always consists of turkey, broccoli casserole, zucchini & corn casserole, whipped potatoes, 5 cup salad and dressing! When I first met my DH his family had not heard of the casseroles our family normally had, so I introduced them and now every Christmas it is my job to bring them to dinner...I love it! Thanks for the giveaway!
Many blessings to you and your family this Christmas and New Year!

I'm not sure about Christmas day. We are usually visiting relatives, so we have our fancy family dinner on Christmas Eve before we leave for the late service. I think it's going to be roast chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, maybe some homemade bread if I am feeling ambitious tomorrow, and probably either pumpkin or French apple pie for dessert. Christmas day may be scrambled eggs, for all I know!

Yum! Great question!

We have a roast and all the good stuff, mac n cheese, twice baked potatoes, and green beans at my mom's.

I am bringing the potatoes, and a great Paula Dean Cheeseball!

merry Christmas! to Wilna & your family.

Thankyou for this wonderful blessing- a renewal for the New Year's resolution.
This afternoon we go together to the crib service, then our festive traditions start the german way, on Christmas eve (except the meats are cold), lebkuchen and more special biscuits, coffee & muffins.
Then tomorrow there's a huge gathering with outdoor games (very competitive), plenty of the (English style) food, and my best - Christmas fruit pudding & custard.
I am taking ice-cream, cones & toppping as an afternoon treat, just in case anyone's still peckish...

Would love some of the veggie casserole recipes the guys before me are makin'!

Hope the celebrations are beautiful, meaningful & give thanks to our Saviour!!

Merry Christmas Wilna - to you and to your beautiful family! What great gifts you are offering here. Wilna, you have such a generous heart! Oh and that prayer is beautiful - thank you.

We will be celebrating at our new home this year and my side of the family will come join us for dinner. We will be serving pulled pork BBQ and wow does this house smell great! We'll have all kinds of other goodies too and for dessert the children are all excited about peppermint stick ice cream.

Our guests will be here around 4 pm so I'd better get back to cleaning up the breakfast dishes and wrapping paper from our gifts this morning.

((hugs)) DeniseLynn

Actually what I am most excited about as far as Christmas Day meals is that after we all open presents, my husband fixes us all breakfast. He made the bacon. He scrambled the eggs. He did 'let' me make the toast. We had fun with all of us (kids too) in the kitchen cooking, making jokes about the morning and what we each got for gifts. It was delightful. Merry Christmas Wilna to you and your family. Cherri Engle

We love food here and there is no better thing to do then gather together and share with one another. We enjoyed turkey, cranberries, stuffing, mashed potatoes, baked beans, cheese and crackers, pickles and veggies with honeymoon salad (coconut, marshmellows, and oranges) and cranberry-jello salad. For desert, we had an assortment of cookies - turtle chow mein noodle cookies, mud pies, peanut butter squares, date filled oatmeal cookies (just like my grandma used to make for me when she was alive), homemade butter tarts, candy cane cookies, bread pudding with carmel sauce and apple pie. There was no shortage of good food and lots of love around our Christmas tree.
Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season.

Yummy stuff - love reading that others do pierogies and I am going to make cabbage rolls this weekend. YUM! Too late for the RAk, but here goes :)

Polish traditions here (though we no longer wait for the 1st star to rise before eating). On Christmas Eve everyone gathers in the living room to break Oplatek (blessed wafer) with every family member with well wishes and Merry Christmases. White Mushroom soup for the first course. For the second: Fried perch, stewed fruit, suerkraut/mushroom, cheese, and potato pierogi with sweet sour cream on top, rye bread made with orange peel & cloves, vinegar/dill cucumber salad, a potato dish of some sort & a vegetable or two. Third Course Nalesniki - a thin pancake rolled with apricot or prune flling inside, topped with more sweet sour cream. After the early service at church we open family presents while munching on cookies and sipping hot chocolate, coffee and hot spiced wine.

Christmas Day at my in-laws there is a brunch with all sorts of sweet rolls, monkey bread, and the even famous Egg dish - one with sausage, and one with vegetables (like an omelet) and often a ham or turkey for those who stay for dinner. No need to eat for days afterwards...
