Things...

Janice W. said...Great layout! Love it! 9:12 AM ... Janice, please email me (see sidebar) and i will forward your address to October Afternoon.

After what seems to be ages without a break, our family have a few exciting weekends coming up. This weekend we are driving to Calgary (the Doc has a course he is attending) and the girls and I are going to shop and browse a bit. We hope to make it to Ikea too... and you know how much i love Ikea.

I am also in the planning stages of an online workshop...but i need you to tell me something: If you take an online class, do you / would you print out the pdf class notes? and if you would/do, do you have any pet peeves or preferences? Leave me a comment answering either or both the questions and you can win a $25 voucher for 2 peas! (perfect for a workshop...) I will announce the winner Monday. thank you.

I always print out PDF's from classes and then I file them away in a white box from - Ikea!

Yes, I print out the pdf, absolutely! Even if there is lifetime access to the material online. No specific preferences--it's just nice to have a hard copy reference on hand. Looking forward to hearing more about your workshop!

I never print the PDFs. However, I do like them to be easily viewable on my iPad (I use the kindle, iBooks, or Evernote apps)

I print PDF's because the computer is no where near my craft room. I have notebooks of class material that I use for reference constantly. No preferences - just always happy to have the material.

I don't usually print the pdf's, thanks for the chance to win!

I definitely print out PDFs from online classes. I like to have them at my desk for inspiration.

I print out the PDFs but I also keep them on my iPad as well. One thing that I prefer is to have the pdf print in portrait instead of landscape. I like to keep them in a binder and find it easier to read when it's printed that way instead of landscape.

Yay! I'm excited to see what class you're working on! As for the pdfs, I generally just save them to refer to, although in some cases I print out some or all of the pages if it's something I know I want to refer to frequently. If it's a technique class or lesson and the section in the pdf is more than 1 page, I like to have the how-to stuff on one page and the samples on another so I can choose whether to print 1 or both pages. I also prefer portrait orientation.

I always print out the pdfs, if they aren't too image heavy. i haven't had that problem yet though!

Actually I never print out PDF's as I prefer to file them on my laptop and work on them from there.

I do often print out the PDFs. I prefer to conserve my color cartridges though, so I would recommend keeping the images light or to a minimum.

I always print out the PDF's. It takes it's toll on the printer cartridges, but I think it's totally worth it.

I usually tend not to print them as to much paper is noot good but I keep them in a dedicated file on my computer!

I don't print the pdf's. I just prefer to keep them electronically.

Congrats to Janice (I'm a little green with envy), just adore all things OA.
I really do enjoy a print-out so that I can refer back to it after the class. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Blessings,
karen

Very excited to hear about your upcoming workshop! I know it'll be great!

As for the pdfs, I sometimes print them out and I definitely save it on my ipad and laptop! I'm not too particular, I just want something well written with visuals/photos.

Congrats on your workshop!
I don't print workshop pdfs too often, but I would if there's a sketch or an "assignment" of sorts that would be helpful to have in front of me -- so I'm happier when those key elements have a page to themselves to save on ink and trees ;). I also tend to print in greyscale to save ink.
Have fun planning!

Congrats on the workshop. I would love PDF printables. I don't have any preference about what they look like!

I hate PDF's that have tons of white space, forcing me to print more pages than necessary. We all have so much stuff already & I appreciate any opportunity to shrink my piles.

I usually save the PDFs and view them on my laptop. If I print them, I prefer not too many images or ink-heavy pages. Clear instructions / step by step is generally easier to read than large chunks of text, although it depends on what you're talking about! :)

I would print the PDF if I thought I would be using the class info in a 'real' project and my notes were insufficient. I like notes that have distinct steps that match up with the class presentation. If the notes are available PRIOR to the class I like to read them over to prepare and to be able to print them so I can actually add my notes to the outline during the class.

I always print off class PDFs ... I dont think I have any pet peeves about them. I actually have my hubby print them off at work because they have a better printer there... shhh. dont tell! ;)

I don't print pdfs, but I put them on my iPad and read them in iBooks. Pet hates - cluttered pages, 8 million separate pdfs, things broken over more than one page

I like that I can have the option to print if I need a copy. But it'll definitely be saved in my laptop and loaded into my iPad so that I can refer to the pdf whenever anywhere.

Can't wait to know more about your workshop.

Yes I print the PDF and I also save it to my computer. I like knowing I can find it easily when I want to use it.

Most always - I print out the PDF. But if it is too long, I keep a file folder on my computer with the info. Always good to have options!!

I typically don't print out PDFs. I really like bullet. I've been doing Jen's Scrapbook Stamping class and I really like how her PDFs are - from the way she splits into chapters of topics and within each chapter, she has specific lessons that you can do and check off. Very structured, which I think most people like in a class. Especially online.

I don't generally print out pdfs. I do download them to my computer and review them that way, but they just take up too much ink to prints and I found the eventually took up too much space.

Glad to hear you are working on a class!

Stephanie Eaken said...

I always print out the PDF's & keep them in a "scrapping" file in my scrap room! I would love to take one of your classes!!!

Стокли said...

I download all pdf notes, but I print only sketches, not everything. I scrap away from my computer so I like to have them with me.

Julie H said...

I don't print out the PDF files, I don't like to spend that much money on in, but I do print out sketches - I am much more likely to print something that is b&w only, and then I use "fast draft". Kinder on the environment and the wallet

I wouldn't print out the pdfs, but I'd read them on my iPad so I can have it on my crafting table.

Margie said...

Yes-I love the pdfs! SO useful!

Madeline Rains said...

I have only taken two classes and have printed them once but looked at them online both times.

Cathie said...

whenever I take an online class I print the pdfs of instructions but I'm not going to print notes (like a slideshow presentation) and I rarely print freebies. I also like the docs to be tight without a lot of white space.

Cynthia Baldwin said...

I try not to print out pdf's for online classes. If I need to create with scrap supplies - say, with a sketch or an inspiration piece, I will print that out to have it handy. (My PC and my scrap space are in two different areas.)
As far as online classes, I've found that I'm impatient with videos that run too long, so I like information grouped into shorter segments and videos that are edited to skip through simple stuff.

Sandra said...

Yes, I would print out the pdf.

I almost always print out the PDFs - I don't have any way to access PDFs other than on my desktop, and I really like to read things like that AWAY from my desk! :) The only real preference I have is that the space and ink aren't wasted on useless things. Thank you for the chance!

I have a craft room from http://roomstogrowusa.web12.hubspot.com/hobbyrooom/ that I go and do all my crafting in and I have room for my laptop and a printer when I want to print something off.
