in a week's time...

i would be teaching this class. I love these little mini-mini (4x6 inches) albums. one, becuase all your stash get used up. all those odd stickers and ribbons and even the odd piece of paper. two, you get to use your off cut paper and three, it's a quick and creative gift.

DONE.

i am done. My scrapbook painting is hanging on the wall. all i have to do is take photos tomorrow. i am more than satisfied. i can't wait to show you. I also did 3 mini-mini albums (4x6) tonight for the classes i am doing next week @ Just Scrap it in Saskatoon. I will post some pictures of the little albums tomorrow. It's now 12:37am and i am weary. I looked up "weary" in my thesaurus and that is exactly how i feel. i think now that all my stuff is done and MM IDOL is challenge-wise over for me, jack and jill are coming tumbling down the hill. I actually said to jaku that i am not doing ANYTHING scrap wise for the next week. BLISS. but i am looking forward to the scrapbook weekend especially meeting new people.

Winter is here but...

i have to show off this gorgeous picture. the last few days have been hectic. Exhilarating, but busy. I am almost done with my projects. only the final assemble of the centerpiece. i tell you, i looked at the stuff and i asked myself where did THIS come from? i love it. it's sweet and glittery and different. and i can not WAIT to share with you. i really had a brilliant idea for one of the projects but i have to wait and see how it will come together. i feel like a kid with a toy. i can tell you this: it involves a drill! LOL!!

I am a little swamped with work at the moment, but i am not complaining. i have at least 4 OTHER projects and stuff waiting for me. but i can not WAIT to get to them. i am SO APPRECIATIVE of my mom and dad here and the cooking that is out of my hands for the moment. thankful, thankful. they are really a big blessing in this house at the moment.

AMY!! please send me that email again. it just seemed to disappear into the big cyber blue today. i have a thought for today. just sometimes when the world seems a little overwhelming and i feel especially small, God reminds me of 2 Cor 12 9But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. and i say...

thank you for the music. my mom brought me some DNA-Strings. love, love, love it. how these guys do it amazes me. we saw them in concert once in South Africa and i was amazed and energized! by the fourth song the lead announced that " you can phone your ma now and tell her we don't sing!" go and listen to them on their site. a little african rhythm this time of the morning is never a bad thing. OH and be sure to play around on the site it's an AMAZING interactive site.

yep. my mom and dad is here. they were tired but they are nicely settled and we had a nice dinner last night. i am so thankful to have them here. my heart is HUGE!

the 3rd challenge of MM IDOL is now ON me, and i am still scurrying around for "stuff". Making memories have been SO GENEROUS with their product and i can't wait to get to play. just yesterday i got another box filled with goodies. YAY! i love that. i have a theme for the PARTY and a TIME and a REASON. now i just need to get the WORK done!

for tomorrow's MMIDOL challenge! well i am posting the journaling of TOMORROWS page today. and the page you see here is the other one. i know i am confusing you but here is the deal. i did 2 pages for the challenge and the page you see here was my second choice. the one that i entered is a little more daring!!

the thing that caught my eye for this week's challenge is where she said: that I forget to take time to notice the details, the small
things, the things that really matter -- the things that I really want to remember 20 years from now. I considered this a long time and realized that the little things that create a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart now... my warm tea, my new quilt, my pink hat, my new PJ's... this will not matter 20 years from now, but what will is my 3 living little things and the little things i teach them now that will make a HUGE difference 20 years from now.

As a South African, jaku and i love RUGBY. and today it was the CURRY CUP final in South Africa (almost like the stanley cup in NHL) Our team {THE BULLS} and the cheetas drew the match and the cup is shared. in honor of that special day in SA, i want to post a story here that touched my heart. Pierre Spies Snr was a spiritual dad for Jaku and I almost 17 years ago and he was a springbok rugby player in his time. He died 2 years ago. we really loved him dearly and today his son is a star rugby player.

Spies seizes the moment - in 1975

That famous try

It happened at Free State Stadium, the linear antecedent of Vodacom Park, in Bloemfontein on 27 September 1975. It was the Currie Cup final

It was the first Currie Cup final in Bloemfontein and Free State were set fair for a share in rugby's Holy Grail, for, on that muddy, soggy field, they had just scored a try to make the score 6-6.

In those days there was no extra time. Draw and you shared.

The conditions were tough. A sudden thunderstorm had burst over the ground in rain and hail.

Keith Thoresson, the Northern Transvaal, kicked a penalty in the first half, making the score 3-0 at half-time. He kicked a penalty in the second half to make it 6-0 as time ran out for the battlers in the sticky mud.

There were just three minutes left when the Free State centre Pikkie du Toit broke through and scored. 6-4. De Wet Ras converted. 6-6, and the whole wet world cried VRYSTAAT.

Half a loaf is better than no bread. A share of the Currie Cup was more than Free State had ever achieved before. But it was not at all satisfying for the Northern Transvaal visitors. After all winning Currie Cup finals was their greatest cultural achievement.

Northern Transvaal kicked off and the forwards smashed into the maul at the kick-off and - suddenly - Louis Moolman had the ball and gave it to his backs as the Free Staters rushed up in ardent defence. Under pressure, Christo Wagenaar kicked high and diagonally towards his right.

Athletic Pierre Spies, a champion hurdler, raced after the ball. The ball came to ground. It bounced up high as Spies raced at it and Gerrie Germishuys and Kleintjie Grobler covered.

Spies leapt, long right arm fully extended, hand reaching upwards till his fingertips found the ball. It bobbled on his fingertips - Spies's hand dribble they called it.

Agonizingly, he did not lose the ball but managed to draw it down to race with long strides to the corner on his right as desperate Germishuys and Grobler covered, for the try which won the Currie Cup. Bending low Spies grounded the ball with his right hand.

Hearts in Bloemfontein stopped beating.

From touch Thoresson converted, and the referee Justus Moolman, a Port Elizabeth dentist, an Old Boy of Grey Bloem, blew the final whistle, giving glee to some and casting many into soggy gloom.

Danie Craven, president of the SA Rugby Board, and André Volsteedt, the Free State president, missed the try. They were on their way down from the stand to make the presentation, supposing that it would be to hand over the trophy to two teams for them to share it.

Pierre Spies's try is, perhaps, the most famous moment in the 114-year history of the Currie Cup.

Playing ballboy that day was a sports fanatic, 13-year-old Grey pupil, Joubert Strydom, son of Steve. He grabbed the ball that Spies scored the try with. He kept the ball.

Pierre Spies, the try-scorer, died of cancer two years ago. Steve Strydom died of cancer last year. On Friday Joubert Strydom, son of Steve, is to hand over the ball to Pierre Spies son of Pierre, for young Pierre will be playing on Saturday in the Currie Cup final against the Cheetahs (nee Free State) in Bloemfontein.

this is not the page but...

i did this page a month or two ago on the little things. it just happened in that week a lot of little things happened that made me so happy. so the "sweating" part of this week's MMIDOL page is coming up with something different. and i really felt i did. i love it. and i know because you love me i will get your vote regardless?? {insert smile here!} i did the page in an hour or so and i gave it to a few friends for critique. i am hoping to email it later today to MM.
this weekend is one of cleaning and organising. before my mom and dad arrives Monday night at 6. today, however i will be puttering around my scrapbook room and i hope to scrap just for fun. i also expect a box from MM today... WHOO-HOO. Maryna will know how many years ago i started to dream of receiving MM boxes on my doorstep. i am really not kidding. it seems everybody near and dear to me is moving this weekend. My good friends Wilna (!!) and Nico bought an acreage out of town and they are moving today. and our other good friends Johann and Marian bought Wilna and Nico's house and they are moving Monday. and jaku and I are supplying the fuel for both the move aka. panagos pizza/ macDonals. i mean i just cannot let them go hungry. they have to vote on Monday!! hee-hee.

Staci emailed me! thanks! and then i want to thank you for telling me your 5 things! i loved reading those. there will be another HOF book RAK on Monday so get ready!

why i love thrusdays...

because only the fun part of the week now remains. thursday nights is the first night of the week that jaku and i have a whole night together. so every thursday i have a mini-vacation experience. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR STACI! (you won the RAK!!) this page here was also one of my HOF entries that didn't made the book. way back Shawn colored my hair dark. the thing is i have too much grey hairs to go dark. light is better for me. the page is actually a prayer. i love the book fascinating womanhood and i believe reading it again and again and again is one of the reasons for my happy-happy marriage of 15 years. *** I GOT MY HOF BOOK YESTERDAY!! yay!! and i realized all the pages in there is a year old. and i have done at least 150 pages since i entered HOF a year ago.
I have a few cool links that i want to share: My Friend Maryna started blogging again!! go and have coffee with her. she is one of the most sincere people i know. she is my fiercest friend. Another very sweet lady, Allyson Bright Meyer featured me as the artist of the month on her website thank you so much ALLYSON!! this is a first for me.
i am still waiting for my goody box from Making Memories. until then i am working on "the" page but will probably redo it with their products. this is one tip i can dish out to HOF wannabees... never be afraid to redo a page until it's just right. of my 10 pages I entered, 4 was pages i did again until i was satisfied. but i kept the first attempts... one of my girls will someday want them! oh and please continue to inspire me with your 5 little things!!

it's snowing!

as i am typing the first snow of the season began to fall. it's -4 outside. it's probably wouldn't last as it will get warmer later today. but it's such a serene scene. Last night jaku and i sneaked out of the house and went to the movies. we saw the guardian. and i really really enjoyed it. because of pretty boy Ashton Kutcher, and because i loved the tension. another movie that we are super excited about is ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING. it's the story of Esther. and it's being released later this month. take your time and watch the trailer. it's going to be great!! know what? the other hall of fame girls are just GREAT. we have a message board where we chat everyday and when i asked them yesterday how do you make a picture pop with Photoshop elements, they gladly told me. i am so thrilled. i took some fall pictures last week in the park and they turned out great. and now they are popping!! before i go on... drum roll please for the winner of the Hall of Fame Book RAK.... STACI!! i wrote numbers 1-22 on squares and closed my eyes and picked a number. 8. your were the 8th comment! CONGRATS! You have to email me ASAP...if i have not hear from you within a week, i will draw another number! go-go-go!!

For quite a few years now, my motto has been to take time for the little things. I know that for me it is easy to get so wrapped up in the day to day schedule of life that I forget to take time to notice the details, the small things, the things that really matter -- the things that I really want to remember 20 years from now.
My challenge for you has two parts:
1. Create a layout with the theme "the little things." That doesn't have to be the title; in fact, try to come up with something different and unique but I want to see what some of your "little things" are.
2. Use at least nine photos. You can use more than nine, but no less. You choose the size and the layout - one can be large with eight small photos or they can all be the same size, etc. It is up to you.

i really would love your input. jaku and i are having one serious, strenuous, solemn discussions around this challenge. see, that's what makes me love him so MUCH! he cares, he is involved, he has opinions! anyhow, name a few little tings that you would use on such a page. let's say 5 things. i would love your input.

today (the 5 minutes that is left) is thanksgiving here in Canada. I just want so give ya'll my thanks for again voting faithfully for me. i do not know the outcome yet, doesn't matter. YOU MATTER.

Life is good when I can make someone see themselves in a new way, when I can inspire them to give God a chance. When I can watch pride and prejudice over and over. To have my friends over for dinner and see them relax and have a good time. Life is good when I can wear red lipstick and get some highlights. Because of sunshine and clouds and coffee times. the end of the week...

phewww... what an exciting week. my album commission is done and looks great. my IDOL project is done and i am MORE than satisfied. in fact i think it's my favorite page ever. and if (or must i say when?) you vote for me, i believe you will not be disappointed. this morning i woke up with such a nervous heart knowing that i have to make something that is really idol worthy and that i will not be ashamed to ask people to vote for. and i am not. i am thrilled and cannot wait to show you all on Monday. yesterday we took some fall pictures. and i just have to say how much i love my camera. this will be the first year that i have a decent camera to take pictures with and all i can say is... WHAT A PLEASURE! just look at gorgeous Kirstin. i love the way the sun creates some red in her hair. she is just so photographic. and of the 3 she enjoys taking the pictures the most.

thanks again for the kind emails i received. i read and re-read many appreciating it so much. tonight is the first night in a looooonnngggg time that i can just kick back and take a breather (!!) oh and YAY! my parents are coming in just little over a week... all the way from South Africa. i have not seen them in almost 18 months and they are coming to visit for 3 months! can't wait. can't wait!

ok, i am saying goodbye now... will keep you updated!

You can see more of her work HERE.. she is SUCH a great and talented designer! what am i up to? puttering. mainly on the computer. i have 2 computers (one old and one new) and 4 email addresses and 3 adress books. and i want to sync them to save me time. Tree63 is blasting away here. i really want to thank Shanna for her kind review of the Hall of fame book. i don't have the book yet, but now i can't wait!

speaking of "the-book" the winner of the RAK which is a Hall of Fame book is... GINA! i wrote numbers 1-17 on all over a piece of paper, closed my eyes, turned the paper round and round and pointed with the green Laurentien studio pencil to number 10. and Gina's comment was the 10th one. Now GINA... you need to email me. if i have not heard from you within a week, i am picking a new number. the week starts... NOW! Email me, Gina! quick! yesterday, amidst all the excitement and awesome and heartwarming emails i received (aww... thanks again) i did 15 pages for the commission album. yep. worked my... hard. not completely done, but i will finish it soon.

MMIDOL update: the next round of voting is MONDAY 9>< OCTOBER. it opens Midnight America time (MST) and closes midnight America time (MST) (about 8 in the morning in SA) so you have to remember there is only 24 hours in which you can vote.

it's almost like when i was in hospital to have my babies... you are so dependant on the doctors and nurses and you just feel SUCH gratitude that they are prepared to help you. that's how i feel. you put me there. now you keep me there K?????

i am busy answering whole lot of questions for MMIDOL and putting some pictures together. they said they are sending us some goodie bags to use in doing the assignments. YAY!!! Jaco took some pictures of me this morning and i really appreciate him for doing that because he really don't like it all that much. them i am busy thinking on the . HEY!! i want to ask you to join me in doing the assignment. that will really be fun. then post a link to your page in the comments. i want to finish my page today. and then i will finish my other unfinished projects!!
